Looking for a good lunch in the heart of Amsterdam? At 't Gasthuys you can sit down every day from 12:00, inside our brown café or outside on the waterside terrace. Everything is freshly made and served quickly, so even on a short break you'll be back in good time.
The lunch menu has all our classics: toasties (from cheese and tomato to honey and brie), sandwiches such as the Santos, chicken & bacon, carpaccio and Amsterdam ossenworst, and the bigger lunch specials: homemade chicken satay, homemade hamburger, chicken burger, the vegetarian Beyond Meat burger, the 'Twaalfuurtje' lunch platter, Oma Bob's croquette duo and the soup of the day. Hungry for more? Rump steak, spare ribs, oven-baked salmon and the Caesar salad are served all day.
- Gluten-free bread is always available, and our fries come from a separate fryer used for fries only.
- Vegetarian lunch is no problem either: try the cheese toastie, the honey-brie toastie, the brie sandwich or the Beyond Meat burger.
- Coffee and tea are served all day, with whole milk or oat milk.

On weekdays, 't Gasthuys is the place for lunch with colleagues, a study group or friends: quiet enough to talk, in the middle of the city and within walking distance of Dam Square, the Spui and the University of Amsterdam. In good weather you can sit outside on the terrace on the Grimburgwal and watch the boats go by.

Until what time can I have lunch at 't Gasthuys?
Lunch is served every day from 12:00 to 16:30. After that the kitchen continues with dinner until 21:30 (Friday and Saturday until 22:00). Rump steak, spare ribs, oven-baked salmon and the Caesar salad can be ordered all day.
Do I need to book for lunch?
No, for 1 or 2 people there is always room: just walk in. Coming with 3 or more? Please book a table with the Book a table button. Groups of 8 or more send a group request and we'll email you about the options.
Do you have vegetarian lunch dishes?
Yes, for example the cheese toastie (or cheese and tomato), the honey-brie toastie, the brie sandwich and the vegetarian Beyond Meat burger. Also ask about the soup of the day.
Can I have a gluten-free lunch?
Yes. Gluten-free bread is always available and our fries come from a separate fryer used for fries only. Cross-contamination in the kitchen can never be fully ruled out, so please always tell us about your allergy.
Is there a terrace?
Yes, in good weather you can sit outside on our terrace on the Grimburgwal, right by the water. Inside there is always room in the brown café.

Eetcafé 't Gasthuys is at Grimburgwal 7, less than a 2-minute walk from Rokin metro station and the University of Amsterdam (Binnengasthuis). Dam Square, the Kalverstraat and the Spui are also within walking distance.
