Since 1977

A genuine Amsterdam brown café

Café 't Gasthuys is a cosy brown café in the middle of Amsterdam's historic city centre, where you can enjoy lunch, dinner or simply a nice drink. Come on in, or in summer take a seat on our sunny terrace on the Grimburgwal, where countless boats float by.

The building consists of three parts, built around 1870, 1900 and 1930, with wooden panelling, a long bar and Piet Römer's original 1977 liquor licence in a place of honour. For over 45 years, Café 't Gasthuys has been a place where you can always go for food and drinks. We hope to see you soon!
